Brent is Here!

We ducked out of church early to meet Brent at the airport. His parents and his sister Cari's family were also there to greet him.His flight was delayed sixteen minutes, which seemed much longer.

The kids ran into his open arms before he had fully crossed through the security gate. We were worried that Braden would be a bit standoffish, but he was fine. He kept saying Daddy! and hugging Brent.

After five different flights and almost 48 hours of travel, he made it safely to Phoenix for his R&R leave. He is looking a bit skinnier, was exhausted, and needed a shave and a good bath and a good meal, but was so glad to be back on U.S. soil.

Brent said that when his plane landed in Dallas, the city fire department had a truck on either side of the runway, and sprayed water over the plane from both sides in salute. As they exited the plane, there was a huge crowd of airport workers and passersby cheering and clapping. I'm glad to see that there are still those who appreciate the sacrifices of our troops.

We have truly been blessed to have Brent returned safely home.
