Festival of the Southwest- Humbug!

I decided to take the kids downtown to the Festival of the Southwest. It was rather disappointing. It ended up only being Extremely over priced carnival rides surrounded by overpriced vendors.

There were the famous Clydesdales to look at. Whoopideedoo. My frugality won out. I told the kids that instead of riding two rides each, we would spend the same amount of money to play on the adjacent playground, go out to eat, each pick a prize from the dollar store, and finally rent a movie at the Redbox. So we did.

Initially there were a few protests, but the kids soon forgot about all that they were "missing out" on, and discovered that they could have as many fun rides on the merry-go-round as they wanted.

Or slide down the slide.

It's fun, honest. Only a little scary.

And who doesn't enjoy a good swing? We had a ton of good old-fashioned fun.
