Fall Festival at Church
We had an awesome Fall Festival at the church. Some friends from the army joined us. (I forgot to bring a camera.) There were booths set up in the parking lot with cotton candy, nachos, lemonade, snow cones, and donuts to eat. There were balloon animals, face painting, and a giant inflatable obstacle course. There was a civil war re-enactment group that set up a display and wore old uniforms. (The medical supplies didn't look very reassuring or confidence inspiring.) Braden wanted to slide down the two-story inflatable slide, but couldn't hoist himself up the rope to the top. I tried to help hoist him, but could only reach halfway up. So I ended up slinging him about my neck and pulling us both up. What a workout! It was all upper body, and I discovered that my arms could use some strength training. I dropped him off at the top of the slide, prying his arms from my neck, and had to give him a shove to get him to go down the slide. Then I joined him at the bottom. He had a panic-stricken look about him. We didn't try it again. I brought a pot of chili for the potluck/cookoff (I didn't win), and we had cornbread and pie from the pie contest. I brought a big bag full of razors, chapstick, wipes, toothbrushes, gum, and other hygiene items to send to the soldiers in Afghanistan. There was a card-making and hygiene kit assembling booth set up. I have never been to such an awesome fall festival, and the best part- it was totally free. Our church really knows how to throw a party.
