Parker and Brooklyn both had fieldtrips to the local pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins. Parker says they went way out in the country to a farm with no other buildings around. There was a petting zoo, and a hayride. There were peacocks, and Parker's class got to keep a feather as a souvenir. There were chickens that roamed free, eating bugs, which Parker liked because, "That way the farm was very sanitary." There was a horse that was trained to do tricks. It was one of the best fieldtrips that he has been on. Parker picked out the largest pumpkin he could find. Brooklyn's tiny pumpkin was already mushy when she picked it out, and didn't survive the trip home in her backpack.
