2010 Pat Tillman Memorial Run

Brent has been training London for the 6th annual Pat Tillman Memorial Run in Tempe, Arizona. London will typically run 4.5 miles in about 45 minutes. Today was the big event, and boy did she wow us! London ran the 4.2 miles in 36 minutes and 46 seconds. That's a 8:46 mile pace. Not bad for a nine year old! Out of 20,628 finishers, she placed 3,832nd. (And most of those runners were adults.) She has worked so hard, and we are so very proud of her.

While the adult run was going on, Grammy and Carol took the other kids to meet a cow who reminded us to "eat mor chikin,"

jump in the bouncy castle,

throw a few darts,

meet the Diamondbacks mascot,

get their faces painted,

(Brooklyn wanted a purple butterfly on her cheek)

get a few autographs,

and a few more,

and yet a few more,

hit a few baseballs,

dunk a few basketballs, as well as climb up a giant inflatable slide, run through an obstacle course, eat free power bars (eww), cotton candy (yum), and popcorn, and

Preston, Brooklyn, and Braden, with Carol pushing a sleeping Eden in the stroller, did the .42 mile kid's fun run. They all finished and were all awesome. That was enough of a race for Carol. (Ha! I am so out of shape.) By noon we were all fried from the sun, and exhausted from getting up at 4:30. We grabbed some lunch at Carolina's Mexican Restaurant, then napped at Grammy's house before driving the 3 hours back to Sierra Vista.
