I wanted to let my girls out in the mornings to peck around the yard a bit, but I had to clip their wings first so that they couldn't fly into the neighbors yard and get attacked by their dog. Clipping their wings sounds so mean, but it just means trimming a few of their flight feathers- much like trimming your fingernails. I was nervous, but watched a few how-to videos on youtube, then gave it a shot. Success! Now I have free range hens, and they LOVE it!
