We lived in Utah for two and a half years and never once did the schools close for a snow day. Everyone promised us that Georgia would be nice and warm, and that we wouldn't need coats, much less sleds.
It's a good thing we didn't get rid of our winter coats, gloves and hats. Georgia is not equipped to deal with snow, so everyone freaks out. The grocery stores were totally sold out of bread, milk, ground beef, and toilet paper. The children were sent home from school early yesterday in anticipation of the "storm" and will remain closed for today and tomorrow as snow days. The Georgia kids are going nuts building snowmen. Our kids are sitting inside rolling their eyes.
