Santa Monica Pier and Beach

We drove straight to the beach so that the kids could see the Pacific Ocean. We walked out onto the pier, and saw seagulls, pelicans, and even a seal in the water.

Then we headed down to the water, where the kids played tag with the waves. I didn't bring towels or beach shoes, so the kids just waded in to their knees and had sandy wet shoes and socks for the ride to the hotel. It's a good thing we aren't the kind of parents who have to worry about sand mussing our luxury car. The sunset was beautiful, and the weather wasn't too cold. It was a lovely time.
