Goodbye, Kittens

For the past six weeks we've had the fun of hosting four kittens in our home. They are adorable.

The kids named them and handled them, and loved them. The calico was my favorite. Whoever ends up with them will get kittens who are very good with kids.

Sadly, it is time for them to go. We decided to take them to the local shelter, where they will receive shots, be sterilized and microchipped, and placed for adoption. I figured that it is better to have all of these things done for the low adoption fee of $25, and have prospective pet owners screened by the shelter, rather than just giving the kittens away in front of Walmart. I only wish we had adopted Tigress from the shelter. We'll have to pay six times as much to have these things done at the vet. The downside is that now I've been blacklisted. It's not fair. I took in a pregnant stray, yet because the kittens will be considered "owner turn-ins" we are now banned from adopting from the shelter. Pooh. I got some sour looks too. We didn't want any more pets anyway, but still, it's not fair.
