We took the kids downtown where the west end of Fry Blvd was roped off for a block party. There were booths set up with local vendors selling there wares. We bought an American flag wall decoration that was pretty cool. One lady discovered that I homeschool my 6 children, and decided that I must be SuperMom. (I would have prefered WonderWoman. It encompasses so much more.) She gave me a complimentary homemade burp cloth and matching bib for Eden.

We were given free baseball caps. That was nice because it was hot and sunny. Border Patrol had a portable detention unit set up for touring. I threw the kids in jail and told them to make a sad face for the camera. Some kid jumped in the picture and frowned too.

The police department brought out gear for the kids to try on, and the S.W.A.T. truck to climb in.

Brent told Preston to make a fierce face, but he could only smile or make a weird grimace. I've posted the smile.

There were some kids from the local martial arts studio who did a demonstration on the street that was pretty cool.

There was a bouncy castle. The Home Depot had a table set up for kids to build bookends and leaf presses and the like. They gave out free kid-sized aprons too.

Face painting is always nice. So are free lollypops and water bottles. A local church handed out free Bibles and ice cream.

The bead shop set up a booth for kids to make free bracelets. Preston gave his to me.

We have left over beads for making more bracelets at home.

Overall, we had a fun, fun time. After the block party we tried out Kim Ba Woo's Korean Restaurant. Chicken Bulgogi=YUM!
