Here is the finished product. My new chicken coop. Yep, you heard right. One week ago we acquired three baby chickens. They are all female, and will hopefully eventually give us eggs.

I designed and built this chicken coop all by myself. Taking Stagecraft in high school really paid off. I'm not afraid of power tools. London picked out the orange colored hen, and named her Little Red. Preston picked out the one on the left, and named her Moonlight. Brooklyn picked out the smallest chickie on the right, and named her Cutey.

We are one step closer to being Urban Farmers. Here is our container garden. We are growing tomatoes, cantalope, four kinds of peppers, Thai basil, cilantro, asparagus, strawberries, broccoli, and are killing sweet peas, spinach, and an onion.

This is our upside-down cucumber. We'll see how it does.

LOL I owe my power tool skills to theatre too. We had good times putting those sets together!
I'm totally jealous I want chickens so bad. You are lucky to be someplace the zoning will allow it. My garden flopped this year I did all new varieties and it was a bust. I have some watermelons looking promising but most of my effort has gone into keeping all my baby fruit trees alive on the face of the sun. We have 7 fruit bearing trees (only 2 citrus) so they need lots of tender care for the next 2-3 yrs.
Good luck are you going to eat the chickens when they get a bit older? I understand at about 2 years the egg production falls off sharply.
I am jealous of your garden! I am growing tomatoes and green beans in pots inside for now since we no longer have a yard. It's not the same:(. I have wanted to try one of those upside down planters. Keep us posted on how it works!
Glad to see you are very well settled and things are growing. That is very satisfying. MISS YA
