A few years ago, someone gave me one of these baggies of bread starter. I left it on the counter, promptly forgot about it, and it exploded in a gooey, fermented mess. Ten days ago, I was given another shot at this friendship bread gig. I was given a sample of the finished product along with my baggie, as added motivation. Brent and I followed the directions this time, and let me tell you, the results are worth the wait. Man, was this bread delicious!
I got online to find out a bit more about bread starters, and have now been converted. I'm keeping a starter going perpetually now. I pledge to feed and air it daily. I may take it for walks, and it may have to accompany us on vacation. I'm all in. This is the most fulfilling pet ever. I think I shall name it Hubert.

I have to agree, frendship bread is the best! I had trouble giving away the starters though, so I ended up making way too much of the bread. So yummy though!
