The post back-to-school fair was today. I took the kids to check it out. There were dozens of tables set up with vendors of everything possibly school related. They each gave out little school supplies to the passersby- pencils, rulers, and notebooks. Outside there was a tv/internet provider trailer with a home theater set up inside, emergency vehicles to sit in, a bouncy castle, a rock climbing wall, and a dunk tank with members of the high school swim team inside. There was also a fake house in a trailer that the firefighters use to teach kids how to handle a fire in their home. Preston was the kid designated to call 9-1-1 once they all got out to the "neighbor's house."
The firefighters also had a remote control fire hydrant that the kids loved to chase around.
Every family event that the military puts on has a bouncy castle and/or rock climbing wall. My kids are spoiled. They totally take it for granted. When I was a kid a bouncy castle was a rare treat.
