Fort Gordon Independence Day Celebration

I love the 4th of July! Ft Gordon had their fireworks display the day before, which I find odd.

We set up chairs in the park across from Barton Field.

The kids made new friends and ran and played freeze tag. The kids wanted to check out the carnival, so Parker stayed with Camden at the chairs while I took kids on rides.

I let the kids choose only one ride, because tickets were tres expensive. London and Brooklyn stood in line for the rock wall, while Braden and Eden rode the teacups. I was happy to just watch.

Before we walked away, Parker asked me what to do in case of a terrorist attack. I told him to grab Camden, leave everything behind, and run across the street to the library, where we'd meet up with him. After about fifteen minutes, the army band started playing Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Using a real canon. The first time it went off, Parker grabbed Camden and took off as fast as he could for the library. He stopped when he heard laughing, and then saw the canon by the band. Poor guy. At least he didn't leave Camden behind. All was forgotten when I brought back funnel cakes for everyone to share.
